Description
This outfitter offers an abundant population of Mountain Caribou. They have over 90% success rate and have been fortunate enough that each season several trophies score well enough to make the record book. The majority of caribou harvested by hunters will score over 360 B&C. They offer Caribou hunts as a specific 5 day or 10 day hunt from August 1st-October 15th, but they can also be harvested as a second animal in combination with sheep, moose or grizzly. The Caribou hunts are offered as a horseback hunt throughout the season but there are also several areas that offer backpack hunts as well. As per Yukon law, each hunter has a designated guide and unless otherwise requested there is only one hunter per camp. This area offers a great mixed bag hunt opportunity and there is always an excellent chance of taking a second animal during a 10 day hunt. Tags for all the animals are included in the hunt price but harvest fees are extra for any additional animals harvested. They offer traditional horseback hunts for Moose. Horseback hunts allow access into remote areas where they have harvested some remarkable moose with mature bulls averaging 58″-60″, although they have also taken trophies measuring in the 70″ range. There is a 95% success rate and it is quite common to harvest another animal with these moose hunts. A Moose-Caribou or Moose-Grizzly combination is quite popular in the area. This typical Moose hunting terrain is mountainous with wide treed valleys, lots of high willow ridges, muskeg and small ponds. There are several comfortable camps with cabins throughout the area, but be prepared to travel with a spike camp. Outfitter uses Beckel canvas tents for the traveling hunts. As per Yukon law, each hunter has a designated guide and unless otherwise requested there is only one hunter per camp.

Description
During August Bulls form small bachelor groups at high elevation in the mountains. The caribou start to lose velvet mid to late August. The Bulls are on the move during this time therefor be prepared to travel with a spike camp. In September the Bulls move lower and mix with the cows & calves. The rut begins in early September and on average each herd will contain a couple dozen cows and 3-4 mature Bulls. The Boone and Crocket Club has mistakenly categorized all the caribou in our area as Barren Ground. In reality the local heard of Heart River caribou are Mountain Caribou. Their antler structure, body size, seasonal movements and DNA provide concrete evidence that they are Mountain Caribou. The typical moose hunting terrain is mountainous with wide treed valleys, lots of high willow ridges, muskeg and small ponds. This outfitter has several comfortable camps with cabins throughout the area, but be prepared to travel with a spike camp. This outfitter offers five moose hunt dates per season each lasting 10 full hunting days with a day on each end to allow for travel time in and out of camps. August 23rd-Sept 1st: The days are becoming shorter and the weather is cooler with a good chance of snow. The Bulls are alone or in bachelor groups and can be found throughout the area from slightly above timberline to the valley bottoms. The Moose lose their velvet around August 25th. September 3rd-12th The Moose are in pre-rut at the start. Outfitter has good luck with this hunt harvesting big bulls before they herd up with the cows and start to hide. September 14th-23rd the moose are in full rut during this hunt and respond well to calling. Be prepared for cooler weather and freezing temperatures. September 25th-October 4th by this hunt the bulls usually have the cows pushed back off the rivers and are found in higher terrain. The Moose start to herd up in October. October 6th-15th hunt outfitter usually harvests Caribou but can harvest a Moose as a second animal. Be prepared for winter conditions during this hunt.
