Description
Early season high alpine backpack style hunts are a fun and challenging way of hunting bachelor groups of bucks, ranging from 5000’ to 8500’ foot elevations. Hunting begins September 1st, and runs until October 1st for this option. Hunters should come in good physical shape and be prepared for some hard hikes and to carry loads both up the mountain to setup camp, and back down again with a heavily loaded backpack full of deer meat and antlers. Normally, we can get within a few kilometers of the chosen hunting destinations, using 4×4 vehicles or ATV’s, avoiding some long walks. This outfitter also utilizes some of the highest quality Electric Mountain Bikes on the market for these hunts. These bikes allow us to access areas 4×4 machines cannot go, but save us a pile of walking as well. A great option for anyone looking for a consistent physical hunt, without needing to use an ATV. This is a 2:1 fully guided 8 day hunt with option to upgrade to a 1:1 hunt.

Transportation (To/From Basecamp)
The majority of these hunts are conducted from a comfortable basecamp located in the heart of the concession. From here, hunters can easily access Black Bear, Mule Deer, Cougar, and California Bighorn and be back for a night of comfort in the cabins. Camp is located in southern Alberta. During the spring and fall hunting seasons, traveling along the Sea To Sky Highway, or Highway 1 is the recommended travel route for their incredible scenery. For those traveling during the winter season, outfitter strongly recommend traveling the Trans Canada Hwy 1 route; as the Sea to Sky, Hwy 99 route winds its way through high elevation mountain passes, and can be treacherous. For those guests who prefer commercial air travel, Kelowna B.C. (YLW) is the closest airport. Outfitter will meet you upon your arrival for the 4.5 hour car ride to our hunting concession. Pickup and Drop-off from Kelowna is included in the price of the hunt. If hunter desires to be picked up and dropped off from Vancouver, please let the outfitter know well in advance, as arrangements need to be made. A fee of $400 will be added to the price of the hunt for pickup/drop-off to Vancouver. Both Air Canada and Westjet Airlines have regularly scheduled flights daily from Vancouver to Kelowna. This outfitter is located 2.5 hours from Kamloops, British Columbia, or roughly 4 hours from Vancouver.

Description
Outfitter does have the option of caping and salting all hides here in camp, though this will take some time away from the hunt. This is a tedious process and great care is taken to ensure proper handling of the hides. If you would like the outfitter to take this time to care for a trophy, they can do so, but please know it will take at least a half to full day of hunting time from your hunt…time you could otherwise use to search for an additional trophy animal. If you choose to continue hunting instead, they can freeze the hides and heads, and transport them at a later date to their taxidermist to be cared for at a later date. The taxidermist reserves the right to charge whatever fee is necessary for the caping and salting of these hides once in his care. Usually this is around $200-$300 for this service. At the end of each hunt, every client will be required to sign a Declaration form, as well as a record of receipt for transporting wildlife. If hunter has a taxidermist back home they would like to use, please provide the outfitter with their contact details so they know where the animal is going. If hunter is planning on keeping some if not all of the meat, please contact the outfitter for further information regarding the proper procedure for transporting meat back into the USA or other international destinations. Hunter can also buy coolers from the outfitter for $50 each, filled with frozen meat to take home. All wild game meat not taken with the client will be used in camp or given to local First Nation families.
