Description
Hunting the Northern Territories of Australia for trophy water buffalo and banteng. A 8 day hunt plus 2 days travel in the Australian outback near the floodplains. These exclusive concessions produce high quality bulls and bullocks and deliver outstanding meals and lodging. Banteng cattle (also called Bali cattle or Bos javanicus) were brought to the Cobourg Peninsula in the Northern Territory from Bali in Indonesia. Banteng are smaller than beef cattle and have distinct white patches on their rump and lower legs. An additional buffalo, bullock or banteng may be taken with additional fee. Wild pig cull hunts can be included with no additional charge (tusks can be taken, but additional taxidermy of skins and skulls will require extra charge). Great land based fishing is available at some camps.

Average trophy size (SCI) are very high in the area, with some bulls scoring at as large as 110-115. Gold metal standard SCI is 101". A trophy bullock is a castrated buffalo with 15-20 years of age. These bulls do not broom and produce the highest quality bulls of 120"+ SCI. The horns of a mature trophy banteng bull measure around 17" in length with some exceptional bull's taping out to the 21" to 22" mark. The average circumference of the horn basses is around plus 12". The style of the horn can vary considerably. Trophy bulls taken in the area have scored 73 6/8" SCI, 74" SCI, and the No.2 bull taken with a bow scoring at 70" SCI. Gold metal standard SCI is 68. All Banteng harvested are recorded and come with certificate of origin.
Rifle:
It is recommended that clients bring their own guns but the outfitter can provide excellent firearms for use on its concessions. All firearms are modern and in good condition. Ammunition is supplied on current cost basis. Any damage outside of normal wear and tear caused by clients will be the responsibility of the client as set out in the terms and conditions. Any unused ammunition is to be left with the outfitter at the completion of the hunt.
Large caliber rifles no smaller than .375.
Outfitter set-up Recommendations:
.458 lot: Ruger M77 safari grade rifle topped with a Leupold 1 - 4 scope. This is a big banger with huge hitting power. It is ideal for buffalo.
.416: Ruger Alaskan topped with a Leupold scope, another great rifle for taking on the biggest floodplain bulls. It has enough hitting power for the biggest bulls you may encounter.
.375 Remington Ultra Magnum: Remington model 700 XCR chambered for the .375 Ultra Magnum. This is my favourite hunting rifle and is topped with a Schmidt and Bender 1.5 - 6 Zenith illuminated scope. It is a lot flatter shooting then the .458 and is excellent on buffalo, banteng and pigs.
.460 XVR Smith And Wesson:
This is an excellent hunting revolver. It is not for the faint hearted and packs plenty of punch with a 5 shot capacity it is packed with enough lead to take down your trophy animal. With a 6 inch barrel this handgun is extremely accurate and will meet the demands of any handgun hunter.
.500 Smith And Wesson:
This is carried more as a backup weapon with its short 2 inch barrel but can be used by the right hunter when hunting on GOE concession.
Shooting skills: standing with ranges varying from 50-100 yards.
Archery:
Outfitter Recommendation:
70+ lb. shooting at at least 600 grain arrow with a 1 piece two blade cut on contact broad head. 25-30 yards is common, but be prepared with a 50 pin as they can be very alert animals. Being prepared to shoot at 50 yards will double your shot opportunities.

Some areas offer great numbers of animals and 1000's may be seen in a day, while other areas that are not so extensively populated produce some truly amazing bulls. When booking a hunt it is important to be honest about your capabilities, as different areas produce different animals at different times of the year. Some conditions are extreme and require fit and mobile hunters to produce excellent bulls while less mobile hunters may require different equipment and more remote camps to get them within range of a high quality trophy without physical exertion.
