Description
Fishing comes first on the agenda and Eagle Lake fishing is tops. Imagine fishing for trophy Walleyes, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and the infamous, elusive Muskie. Eagle Lake held the Ontario record Muskie of 61 lbs, 9ozs until recently! Many experts believe that it could also produce the next world record. Because of the location most guests spend their time fishing. Some of the the best structure, bays and reefs are within eye sight of the dock and main lodge. Guiding services are available to show you around the many "hot spots" on the lake or venture out on your own. There are specific laws on how many fish can be kept and procession limits. Most trophy fish are preferred catch and release. This adventure must be booked for a minimum of 4 days (reflected in pricing). Prices vary depending on group sizes offering discounts for larger groups during spring fishing. Discounts for youth and children. This lodge is a perfect place for bachelor parties or big corporate events. The entire island can be rented for groups of up to 40 people. Groups as small as 2 up to 40 can be arranged. Depending on the time of year the trip is booked will determine the price as it varies based on most popular times. This adventure allows for one full day of guiding and option to add additional guide days if desired. Your first full day of fishing will be guided and they will communicate where and how to fish for the desired species. They will go over depths, baits working that time of year and locations of fish on the lake. After the first day, fisherman will be taking their own boat (included in package with endless gas supply included) to go explore on their own. Wives and non-fishing parties are welcome to accompany but there is no discounted rate for non-fishing parties.

Description
Consistently mentioned as one of the best Musky fishing lakes in the world and holding the world record until recently, many experts believe that Eagle Lake could produce the next! Due to the large size of Eagle Lake, and vast forage base of shad and lake herring have helped produce record quality fish. In order to help preserve the population Eagle Lake has enforced some the of the strictest conversation measures. Currently, no Musky under 54” can be kept, virtually making this an all catch and release lake. Most anglers will take photos and have these larger fish made into replicas. You hear fish of these larger sizes being caught but they are never kept. Musky are renown for its bad attitude; this fish has an average length of 36 inches to 50+ inches. Their color can be extremely variable but always having dark markings on a light background, which is in contrast to the Northern Pike. The color varies from iridescent green-gold to light brown, gray, or very silvery. This fish has similar features to the Northern Pike including the shape of its body, the positioning of its eyes, and the amount of razor sharp teeth in its mouth. A distinct feature to identify this species is the presence of small pores under its bottom jaw. This fish will have from 12 to 18 pores in comparison to a Northern Pike, which will have a maximum of only 11 pores. Season for Muskie opens the 3rd Saturday in June and runs until December 15th. Eagle Lake is a top-producing trophy Walleye Lake and is rated as one of the top ten Walleye fisheries in Ontario. The species averages from 15 inches to 27 inches in length, and many in the 27-inch to 30+-inch range. Walleye’s have a dark green back and a gold to white colored belly. On their back dorsal fin, which has 12 to 16 spines, are very sharp, almost needle like. Some of their key characteristics are its large silvery eye, a black blotch at the base of its dorsal fin, and a white blotch at the tip of its tail. They can be found in relatively shallow waters during the months of May and June. They migrate to the deeper water as the season progresses where they settle into their summer holes for some of the most consistent fishing we see. As the summer starts to turn to fall, these large schools of fish start to move back to their spawning areas where they find an abundance of baitfish. You can expect to find these fish in depths of water ranging from 6 feet to 35 feet. The most common method used to catch walleye is to jig for them using various size lead head jigs tipped with a minnow. The most important key to jigging is to be able to feel the lake bottom. A favorite technique at this lodge is the use of crawler harnesses. These are used throughout the season at the lodge and are a favorite of these fishing guides. Other techniques commonly used in this area include casting or trolling crank baits (this is best suited for spring and fall fishing when they are shallow), and trolling weighted spinners, also tipped with a minnow. Walleye fishing opens the 3rd Saturday in May and remains open until the end of the year. Like Muskies, Northern Pike feed on the vast population of Shad and Lake Herring on Eagle Lake, producing quality fish. These fierce fish average from 25 inches to 36 inches in length, but many caught on Eagle Lake are 40+ inches and can weight up to 20#. As a distinct predator, its large eyes sit high on its broad head, and have a large mouth with many razor sharp teeth. This fish has a row of tiny pores under its lower jaw, which usually amounts to 5 on each side, never exceeding 11. This is the most definite key characteristic to use in differentiating between a Northern Pike and a Muskie. The best technique for fishing Northern Pike is to cast for them using various types of spoons. In early spring and late fall, trolling with crank baits is popular. They spawn in early spring when water temperatures warm into the upper 40’s. Pike settle into the weed beds of shallow bays in the late spring into summer to find cover and abundant prey. They can also be caught in deep waters, usually caught while jigging for walleye, and on sand bars. In fall these fish move from the weed beds to deep water and rocky points where they forage for the winter months. Fishing for Pike is open all year round on Eagle Lake. Currently no fish 27 ½ to 35 ½ can be kept.

Description
This is a fisherman's paradise with all the amenities provided for a great weekend or week of fishing. The lodge provides WIFI, satellite TV, bedding, a game room, and a full sports bar stocked with beer and liquor for a great get away. All meals are provided with steak nights and homestyle cooking and fresh foods. A guide will be provided for your first day of fishing and then a boat is provided for the rest of your trip. Guiding for additional days can be provided for an additional charge. Spin fishing is most popular, but fly fishing can be done if required. Rods, reels, and lures can be provided but it is best to bring your own gear if you have it. Fisherman can expect warmer weather, but a long sleeve shirt and jacket and long pants is highly recommended. Check out the guides tackle recommendations for Musky fishing: A medium-heavy, heavy Musky or extra heavy casting rod is needed to handle lures ranging from 1oz-8oz. A large casting reel mounted with 65-100lb test braided line with separate 80-100lb fluorocarbon leaders attached is required when targeting Musky. Large plugs like the "depthraider" and "jake", inline spinnerbaits like the "double cowgirl" and large plastic rips baits like the "Super D" lures are all examples of classic and proven lures for Muskies here on Eagle Lake. There are many variations of all types of Musky lures. Your local tackle shop floor sales manager will know about everything listed here and be able to help you out on your quest for trophies. Check out the guide's tackle recommendations below: For walleye, a 6'6" to 7' long spinning rod with a medium to medium light action and a 2500-3000 series spinning reel equipped with 8-10 pound test mono-filament or fluorocarbon line. Pink and white combo, chartreuse, yellow and orange combo lead jig heads are my favorite but ALL other colors work as well and should have a range of jigheads from 1/4oz to 3/8oz weights. Depending on time of year we use jig'n worm, jig'n minnow or crawler harnesses with 1oz egg weights. The harnesses we will have available at the lodge but you are welcomed to pick up some of your own with variation in color patterns and size if you'd like. We use chartreuse and orange harnesses here at the lodgeCheck out our tackle and equipment recommendations below from the fishing guide: There is nothing particular for pike except the need for wire leaders to keep those teeth from cutting the line during battle. Any type of moving baits will get smashed. Spinnerbaits, Mepps inline spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and crankbaits will all produce. However they are just as likely to hit a jig and worm or minnow, They literally eat anything. *Full gear lists to be provided if requested when booked.
