Description

This is a 1:1 fully guided 5 day hunt for big Colorado mule deer Early season is better for bigger deer. Outfitter can take 1-2 muzzleloader hunters and 1-2 second or third season hunters per year. Hunter can expect to see 50-60 deer a week. There is a not an extremely high density of deer, but there are great genetics. Option to add extra hunting days if desired for an additional charge. It’s no question that unit 61 has proven itself as a top trophy producing unit. The outfitter recommends mule deer hunting either 3rd season or muzzle loader season for this unit. This is when they see the most success and see the biggest bucks. 3rd season is often a low country hunt with a lot of time spent covering country looking for bucks to come out of the wood works and chase does. Muzzleloader season puts you in the higher country glassing for bachelor groups as they feed in open pockets of timber. Hunters can expect bucks 165-180 with several bigger bucks being taken every year. The terrain is moderate in this unit allowing the outfitter to accommodate hunters of varying physical abilities. Lodging on this hunt will be based out of our main camp located in this unit or can be staged in a wall tent depending on snow accumulation and the weather. This is a trophy unit and muzzleloader takes 16-18 points to draw. 2nd season rifle takes 10-11 points. 3rd season rifle takes 12-15 points to draw.

Depending on the season booked will determine what is the best gear to book. After booking, the outfitter will check both the 10 day and 5 day forecast before hunter arrives and report what weather pattern looks like. Hunting at higher elevations can cause extreme weather changes in very short periods of time. Unit 61 sits in southern Colorado so hunter can expect to be in warmer weather during the muzzleloader season and early rifle seasons.
